Create Music that Inspires Social Change

Join Grammy-nominated children’s artists the Alphabet Rockers in a full-day song-writing workshop that will show our students the power and potential of using music to create social change. These artists have earned national acclaim for using hip hop to help children feel proud of who they are, eager to stand up for one another, and connected on the real world issues we are facing around injustice. During this customized songwriting and esteem-building experience, students will develop an original piece of music with an accompanying track.

Note: A minimum of 15 students is required to offer this session; 30 students is the maximum capacity.

If your child has fallen for the Japanese manga-style of comics and graphic novels, they will not want to miss this chance to learn how to draw their own characters.  In this 50-minute session, popular author, teacher, and artist Misako Rocks! will teach students how. She will guide them using her step-by-step process that is adjusted for different age levels.  They will be drawing faces and more in no time! 

Note: 20 openings per session. All materials will be provided.

Podcasts are all the rage today. The trick is creating compelling content that commands attention. Join us in helping your child hone their storytelling skills while learning the mechanics of podcast production in this day-long workshop that is customized specifically for middle school-age students.

Note: 20 students are required to offer this experience.  Enrollment will be on a first come, first served basis!

With Illustrator Lori Richmond

Date: Monday, November 11

For:  Grades 1 - 5th grades

Time: 3:15 - 4:30 pm 

Cost per child: FREE (sponsored by the PA)

In this workshop, you will doodle pictures, words, shapes, and lines to tell a story about a fun and unique topic—YOU! Using the popular “sketchnote” technique, author-illustrator Lori Richmond will guide students in grades 1-5  with step-by-step instructions on how to create a visual autobiography. Doodle topics may include family, home, favorite foods, favorite places, favorite book characters, or anything else your imagination wants to put on the page. 

Note: 25 openings per session. All materials will be provided.
