The Great EMS Storytelling Festival

Formerly known as the Book Fair, The Great EMS Storytelling Festival will be held from Friday, November 8 - Tuesday, November 12, 2019. It's a great way to meet other EMS parents. The Festival encourages reading among students; builds community; provides more books for our libraries, and raises funds for the Parents Association. Volunteer opportunities range from set-up/clean-up, event promotion, general volunteer, facilitating student workshops, working at the cafe, the gift book table, escorting visiting authors, working on the raffle and much more. Volunteer shifts range from two-hour to more extensive time commitments.

Help other EMS families brainstorm and implement initiatives to make our community more environmentally friendly.

School Store

Volunteers are needed to sell spirit wear and merchandise at special school events, such as the PA Welcome Breakfast, Book Fair and Fall Festival. Time commitment involves 2 to 3 hour shifts at special events throughout the year.

Affinity Groups

An affinity group is a group of individuals who share a common social identifier who come together for mutual support. Affinity groups are open to any individual who identifies as a member of the group, even when they do not share the same experiences, or have the same opinions. Affinity groups should act as a positive force in the school that strengthens community ties and helps the school support all of its families more effectively.

Fall Festival

Volunteers are needed to supervise activities, help serve refreshments and set-up/clean-up for this back-to-school event filled with food and fun activities, held on Saturday, October 12, 2019. (Rain Date: Sunday, October 13th)

LS Morning Carline Greeter

Volunteers are needed every morning to help greet our students and keep vehicles moving safely and efficiently through the carline at the Lydecker lot. Carline  Greeters spend 15 minutes helping children exit their cars and make morning drop-offs easier and less stressful for everyone.

Let’s Move: Student Walking & Running Club

Help keep our students fit and healthy! Volunteers are needed to supervise students in an early morning walking/running club. Parents or caregivers of students grades three through eight will be asked to volunteer on a weekly basis for approximately half an hour before school  (7:30 - 8:00am).

International Food Festival

The IFF is a biennial event at EMS, where we celebrate our community's diverse cultural background by sharing traditional cuisine. Families partake in free food, arts, crafts, and charity. We need volunteers to help organize and contribute to each nation's booth.

Adults  are needed to support MakerSpace access for students. This is your opportunity to learn how to use the MakerSpace equipment!

Class Parent

They are responsible for notifying parents about classroom activities; attending and promoting PA events; facilitating Back-to-School Night with their respective teacher, and building parent connections via social opportunities. There are no financial obligations associated with a being class parent.
